Debate Competition on Uniform Civil Code Organized by the Department of Public Administration

On 10th October 2023, the Department of Public Administration, Assam Don Bosco University (Tapesia Campus) organized a Debate Competition on the topic “Uniform Civil Code: A Stride Towards A Cohesive Legal India” at Cenacla Hall, Block V.

The event witnessed active participation from students of the department, who engaged in a structured debate presenting arguments both for and against the motion. The competition aimed to enhance students’ critical thinking, public speaking skills, and awareness of contemporary legal and policy issues.

The session was hosted by Dr. Chandrima Das, Assistant Professor, who briefed participants on the rules and format of the competition. The event was judged by Prof. Lukose P.J. from the Department of Social Work and Dr. Alpana Choudhury, Head of the Department of Mass Communication.

A total of six students participated across two groups, delivering insightful and well-researched arguments. Jyotsna Chaudhury, a student of MA 3rd Semester, was awarded the Best Debater for her outstanding performance.

The event commenced with the felicitation of the judges and concluded with valuable feedback from them, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by the host. The competition successfully fostered confidence, knowledge, and a healthy competitive spirit among students.
